The Chase players make history with £120k win thrashing Anne Hegerty

Celebrity contestants on The Chase made history with a massive £120k win - thrashing Anne Hegerty.

Comedian Dane Baptiste, rugby referee Nigel Owens, presenter Anita Rani and sports broadcaster Mark Pougatch were on the show hoping to win big for charity.

After an impressive game, Dane, Anita and Mark took on The Governess in the final round, having secured £120,000.

The three stars managed to score an impressive 18 points, but viewers at home were left wondering if that was enough to beat Anne.

Things didn't look great for the team as with over a minute to go Anne had scored a solid nine points.

But The Governess started stumbling on questions, while the team were able to execute pushbacks.

As the time began to run out Anne had only scored three more points and by the time the alarm sounded she had a total of 14 - four points behind Dane, Anita and Mark.

Host Bradley Walsh said: "That's one of the biggest wins I think ever on the charity show."

Anne said: "Very, very well played and a fantastic result for your charities."

It is believed this is the third biggest amount a team has won on The Chase.

Dane, Aninta and Mark were all able to take home £40,000 each to their respective charities.
