The Chase fans praise 'legend' contestant who rattles The Beast

The Chase fans called a Royal Navy Officer a "legend" tonight after he went up against The Beast.

Chris, 49, chatted to host Bradley Walsh before he battled The Beast, Mark Labbett, who was the the Chaser on tonight's episode, which was a repeat.

Lieutenant Commander Chris said he had been in the navy for 26 years and lived in Plymouth when he wasn't at sea.

He joked that he was a part-time stripper and liked to play plenty of sport.

If he won some cash Chris said he'd like to buy new bikes for himself and his wife.

In his cash builder he achieved a respectable £6,000, but decided to take the high offer of £30,000 after being tempted into it by the Chaser.

Chris stayed calm against The Beast and managed to get back to the table with the huge amount of cash.

He celebrated with his teammates with fist bumps and looked thrilled.

And viewers at home branded him a legend for his actions.

Tom Gale said: "The fact Chris just done a fist bump followed by a hand explosion solidifies him as a legend."

slashdot dashdot said: "Chris is a legend pressure pushed @MarkLabbett on every question."

Keven Law said: "Chris is going for the 30K! Gwan you legend lol."

Gaz said: "Well done Chris! What a player - knows his stuff and crucially quick with the 'buzzer."

And Ollie said: "Chris smashed up The Beast."

*The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV tomorrow
