The Chase fans outraged at ITV over 'dead cat' joke

Fans of ITV's The Chase were outraged tonight as they took to Twitter to vent their anger.

Viewers took to the social media platform to air their annoyance after one contestant explained how she hoped to spend any winnings.

Contestants Robin, Ramisa, Marie and Mike went up against quizmaster Shaun Wallace in tonight's episode in the hopes of going home victorious with a cash prize.

But it was 25-year-old Ramisa, from London, who fans were fuming with.

The local council officer said she likes dogs and enjoys playing with them.

She offered herself as a "dog sitter" and called herself a "dog whisperer".

Ramisa went on to say that she hoped to buy a dog of her own, but said she currently owns a "cranky" cat.

Host Bradley Walsh asked whether buying a dog would be in the near future and Ramisa said: "It depends if she dies first."

Bradley asked: "If who dies, the cat?" and she answered while laughing, "Yes the cat "

Bradley continued in disbelief as he said: "So the cat's got to peg it before you get a dog?"

She answered: "Yes, exactly."

But fans failed to see the funny side of the situation as they took to Twitter.

Tom said: "Ramisa really thought it was a good idea to come on national television and tell the country that she wants her cat to die so that she can get a dog... #TheChase"

One user said: "I haven't watched the first part of this... this woman wants her cat dead so she can get a dog..? #TheChase" followed by a gif which said: "What is wrong with you?"

Wen said: "Absolutely unbelievable! Woman says she is waiting for her cat to die before getting a dog #TheChase"

Another user said: "The hell is wrong with this woman wishing her cat would die so she can get a dog?!! How did ITV allow that to be broadcast?! #TheChase"

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
