Fans of The Chase were left in disbelief after a familiar-looking contestant appeared on the ITV show.
Thursday evening’s instalment of the thrilling game show saw viewers flock to social media after a Brendan Gleeson lookalike appeared on screen.
The Irish actor has become a household name over the past two decades after appearing in cult movies including Harry Potter, Braveheart, and Gangs Of New York.
So, it’s no wonder that fans completely ‘lost it’ when contestant Rory’s Dublin accent matched the Hollywood star’s when he was first introduced by host Bradley Walsh.
Flocking to Twitter, they shared the uncanny resemblance between the two Irish men.
“This Rory dude not only looks like Brendan Gleeson, but he has the exact same voice too,” pointed out one eagle-eyed viewer.
“Gosh, Rory on The Chase is literally a younger version of Brendan Gleeson, isn’t he?” another echoed.
While a third tweeted: “Rory has to be related to Brendan Gleeson in one way or another! This is unnatural.”
Later on, in the show, it was revealed that Rory is actually the son of the famous actor.
And the 32-year-old has followed in his dad’s footsteps as he currently works as a novelist, playwright, and screenwriter.
Meanwhile, his brother Domhnall, 37, has starred alongside Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant, as well as fronting other box office hits including Star Wars, About Time, and Brookyln.
Following Rory’s family discovery, fans of The Chase took to Twitter to share their disbelief.
“Omg, I bloody knew he was related to the Gleeson’s in some way,” insisted one viewer.
“It all makes sense now. He’s a likable chap. Pity he didn’t know much about the questions though ha-ha,” another quipped.
Meanwhile, a third added: “A sexy Irish man, with a sexy Irish accent, and a sexy dad. Sorry, but it had to be said.”
