The Chase fans in hysterics as player makes wrong move with 'least obvious' answer

The Chase fans were left in heaps of laughter as one contestant decided to go for the "least obvious answer" in tonight's showdown.

The epic episode saw four players go head-to-head in a bid to take home the cash prize and win against the Chaser - which was Anne Hegerty.

Matthew, Debbie, Sharon and Jim were chosen to go up against The Governess, but Jim made one wrong move which left fans unimpressed.

The 39-year-old was being quizzed against the Chaser when he slipped up on one particularly easy question.

Quiz host Bradley Walsh asked: "Which of these was the 1997 hit for Mariah Carey?"

After thinking for a moment about the options - which included honey, sugar and treacle, Jim admitted he went with the "least obvious answer" as he opted for treacle.

Jim guessed incorrectly, as Bradley revealed it was in fact her iconic song titled Honey.

Even Chaser Anne got the question wrong, as she went with sugar.

"That was a 90s music question, I don't do 90s music," Anne explained as she tried to justify her answer.

But fans of the ITV show couldn't believe Jim's choice, and were left in heaps of laughter.

On Twitter, one wrote: "Lets go for the least obvious answer, that always works #TheChase "

Another penned: "it seemed the least obvious answer for a reason you think... #TheChase "

While a third added: "He went for the least obvious answer??!!! #TheChase " alongside a confused face GIF.

Others joked: "Treacle? What is she Del Boy? 90s music is sooo old anyway" while one admitted: "Treacle made me laugh," alongside a string of emojis.

*The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
