The Chase fans fuming as Michael Sheen misses out on £72k charity win by SECONDS

The Chase viewers were gutted tonight as Hollywood legend Michael Sheen, Sky News' Sarah-Jane Mee and Martin Bell just missed out on winning a whopping £72,500 for charity.

During the celebrity special, the trio had been joined by McFly's Danny Jones to win money for Soccer Aid.

The stars went up against The Beast, aka Mark Labbett, which saw Danny knocked out.

Second up had been Martin, who won £500 for the pot, while Sarah-Jayne managed to out-wit The Beast and won a huge £70,000.

Finally, Michael Sheen bagged £2,000 for the pot - making it a total of £72,500.

In the Final Chase, Hollywood star Michael rattled off most of the answers and the trio managed an impressive 21 steps.

Unfortunately, The Beast was on top-form and managed to beat them with just seconds on the clock.

"Sorry guys, it was my day today," he told them.

Despite the loss, each celebrity was still awarded £1,000 for their respective charities.

But some fans were unhappy with the result.

One tweeted: "#TheChase well done #Beast, you won and denied charities of 72k....really dont this shows format for charity specials!?! You must be very proud Mark."

While another commented: "What is the f***ing point of a Charity Chase? You’ve just taken away thousands of pounds for a good cause. ‍♂️ #TheChase."

One commented: "OOOOOOO Gutted...!! Well played gang but gutting #TheChase."

*The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
