The Chase fans fuming after snake contestants give up thousands

The Chase fans were left fuming tonight, after two contestants gave up thousands after both going for the low offer on The Chase.

Marianne, from Crewe, racked up a decent £4,000 in her cash builder and spoke about how much she enjoyed her former profession - teaching.

Marianne used to work in an international school in Marbella, but returned to the UK last year to set up a pet care business.

Earlier in the show she also boasted she had two degrees.

When she went up against Paul Sinha she was offered the £1,000 as a low offer and shockingly took it.

Paul said: "I knew you'd do that, I didn't think you had much monetary ambition."

Host Bradley and her team thought it was a good idea - but Chase fans were furious with her decision.

One said: "what what what??? she went low?!?"

Another said: "Loathe people who take the lower offer."

And a third said: "She's surely not gone for the grand."

Even The Chase official account was mad, as they tweeted: "Oooh. We reckon Marianne could have gone higher. What do you think?"

Marianne got back to her team with the £1,000 - making it a £10,000 total as previous contestant David brought £9k back to the table.

But it was former Prison officer Ebby that really got fans fuming as he took the low offer of minus £1,000 - wiping out Marianne's contribution to the group.

Explaining his reasons behind taking the low offer he said: "My son Nathan was on the show about four years ago and he didn't even get back, so I just want to get back, I don't care about the money. "

And social media went into meltdown.

An angry fan said: "David must be wondering what the hell kind of sponging contestants he's been landed with."

While another equally furious viewer said: "Wow that one guy racked up 9k and these selfish idiots just going for the low offers. P**s off to pointless."

*The Chase continues on ITV at 5pm tomorrow
