The Chase fans fume over contestant's excuse for not getting questions right

Tonight's episode of The Chase left fans at home furious with one contestant's excuse for failing some questions.

Facing tonight's Chaser, the Governess herself Anne Hegerty, was Penzance-born contestant Kit.

Liking to spend his time chasing celebrity autographs, animal management instructor Kit was ready for his stab at winning the big time against Hegerty.

As presenter Bradley Walsh delivered the questions, however, Kit ran into some snags - especially when quizzed on some historical events.

"Before my time," said Kit.

Yet, it was his response for falling down on these questions that irritated viewers at home.

Taking to social media, The Chase fans were not happy with Kit's response to Bradley's questions.

One took to Twitter, writing: "Before My Time!!! #TheChase"

Another viewer tweeted: "Great explanation for why he’s guessed wrong". #TheChase "

Elsewhere, another irritated fan commented: "Before my time alert #thechase "

"Before my time klaxon! #TheChase," noted another viewer.

A different fan willed: "Before his time .. catch him, Anne! #TheChase "

"If you put the work in, nothing is 'before your time' #TheChase," opined another quiz fan.

Another unimpressed viewer tweeted: "I was born in the 90s but know stuff from years before it’s a cop out when folk say before my time."

A rather more poetic Twitter user composed a ditty: "There once was a man called Kit Who wanted to win quite a bit.

Bradley Walsh looked surprised by how things went down (ITV)

"He went on The Chase, fell flat on his face, and made himself look like a t*t #thechase."

Finally, one devoted Chase fan joked: "How many wives did Henry VIII have? Kit: before my time #TheChase. "

Despite a good try, Kit failed to advance through to the finals of the episode, with Bradley saying: "Kit, I am sorry to lose you mate."

Yet, Kit was just pleased to have been given a chance to play.

"I'm glad I came!" he cheerfully replied.

Hopefully Kit got an autograph! (ITV)

Hopefully, Bradley and Anne gave Kit an autograph before he went!

The Chase airs on ITV at 5pm on weekdays and is also available on ITV Hub.
