The Chase fans were left feeling very hot under the collar this evening over "hot" firefighter Alex - but were ultimately bitterly disappointed after his decision to take the lower offer.
This evening, Alex went head to head with Chaser Anne Hegerty, aka the Governess, in a bid to win some cash.
And Anne appeared to be more impressed by Alex's brawn rather than his brains as she asked him: "If there was a fire would you throw me over your shoulder and carry me off?"
Viewers were equally smitten and flocked to Twitter to comment, with one writing: "Oooh Alex #thechase."
While another gushed: "Well helllllooooo Alex."
A third wrote: "Oh my gosh! Alex!"
But fans were unimpressed when Alex decided to go for the lower offer, with a viewer tweeting: "Alex went from hero to zero in 5 minutes by insulting his fiancé & taking the low offer."
Another commented: "I'm so fickle, I liked all the tweets about firefighter Alex on #theChase until he took the lower offer and unliked all the tweets haha."
"I love how everyone has gone of Alex all of a sudden #TheChase," a viewer joked.
One tweeted: "Alex??? You had a nation falling at your feet and you've gone low!!! #thechase."
