The Chase fans call for contestant to be 'next chaser' after he helps team to more than £10,000 each

The fans of the chase were calling for one player who helped to net his team £10,250 each on The Chase, to be the next chaser.

Ken, a retired psychologist, was first up to face the chaser, Shaun Wallace and hit the ground running.

After running up £6,000 in his cash builder, 'The Dark Destroyer' offered Winchester resident Ken £30,000 as a higher offer, an option the player decided to take.

After a proud handshake from host Bradley Walsh and some rather difficult questions, Ken comfortably made it back to the team with two questions to spare, sending fans into a frenzy:

You can see Ken and the teams highlights in the video above.

'Ken is so good, I wish he was the new chaser', Tweeted one person, with another adding: "Well done, Ken! £30k straight off the bat."

Next up were Geordie Victoria, Wolverhampton optometrist and Liverpool fan Indy and sales account manager Jenny from Manchester.

Ken's team mates managed to rack up another £11,000 to take £41,000 to the final chase - where proof reader Victoria almost stole the show, using her pop culture and chocolate knowledge to help the team score 18.

Victoria was quick off the mark to help her stranded team mates who didn't know who had 90s hit with 'When The Lights Go Out', which company makes Penguins and what Pram is actually short for.

However, it was what many described as "poor performance" from Shaun Wallace that allowed the team to score push-backs and comfortably win £10,250 each.

One Twitter user said: "Poor performance from Shaun the chaser, might as well have not turned up!!"

The Chase returns at 5pm every weekday on ITV.
