The Chase contestant mocked by viewers after accepting £50 offer

A contestant on the latest instalment of The Chase has been ridiculed by viewers after accepting a low offer.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Wednesday night's show saw Ellie take on The Chaser, who that night was Mark Labbett.

She wanted to win a life-changing sum of money but only managed to get one question right in the Cash Builder round.

Ellie went on to further shock viewers by criticising an earlier £26,000 offer for being too low and then going on to accept just £50.

People took to social media to vent their frustrations.

One viewer said: "Ellie going back with 50 measly quid #TheChase."

Another tweeted: ""£26k isn't enough... takes £50 offer?!"

A third asked: "Is she joking?"

"Genuinely don't understand her logic..." another wrote, with a fellow Twitter user writing: "She says an offer of £26k isn't enough YET she takes £50!? #thechase."

Mark Labette made a jibe at the contestant (ITV)

Her teammate, Andy, put in a much better performance, managing to answer six questions correctly in his earlier Cash Builder round to put £6,000 into the kitty.

Chaser Mark Labette, also known as The Beast, offered Andy three amounts of money, one of which was a tempting £26,000 if he was brave enough to reduce his odds of beating him.

Ellie said to Andy: "I would say take the higher offer, but it's not high enough."

The Beast responded: "In some daytime quiz shows you don't see that much money all season."

The quiz champion's witty comeback didn't go unnoticed by fans of the ITV quiz show.

One Twitter user said:  "That's Ellie told. Not high enough FFS."

Another said:"Beast told her straight."

A third person said Mark was making a jibe at BBC show Pointless, saying: "Beast having a pop at Pointless."

Andy decided to stick with the £6,000 offer and made it through to the final chase.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
