The Chase contestant 'let Scotland down' with low offer as ITV viewers fume at performance

ITV's favourite gameshow was back on Tuesday night with another Scots hopeful looking to bag some cash on The Chase and put himself up against one of the nation's greatest quiz brains.

Kenny from Glasgow only scored £3,000 in his cash-building round and went on to take the lower offer when he faced up against 'Dark Destroyer' Shaun Wallace.

Contestant Sarah from North Wales had already been booted out, despite getting a respectable £6,000 in her cash-building round so the pressure was on for Kenny to join his teammate Emily in the final chase.

Data analyst Kenny was at the brunt of host Bradley Walsh's jokes during the show, as he was asked: "Do you do anything a bit more exciting outside of work?"

Kenny explained he loves the "great outdoors of Scotland," and also plays locally in Glasgow pubs having written 40-50 of his own songs on guitar, but after his dire performance on the ITV show it seems he might want to lay low for a bit.

The Glaswegian musician went for the £1,000 offer when he faced the table, expressing how he would like to use his winnings to go on a trip to Iceland.

Bradley pointed out how Kenny "lost his confidence" during the cash-building round, as the Chaser added: "You could have done a lot better there," as he sailed his way through to the final chase for striking for the lower money offering.

With Kenny and Emily's winnings totalling £6,000 it was economic development consultant Josh's turn to face the chaser, scoring a decent £4,000 in the cash builder and went against the advice of his teammates to go for the lower offer and return to the table as he got back with his four grand.

"When I got there I was quite nervous, if you are in same boat take the one grand and get back to us," Kenny advised Josh.

Bradley didn't even attempt to say the name of Josh's hometown, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, which has become famous for its ridiculously long wording.

He quipped: "Whats the shortened version," before Josh laughed and they agreed to go with "Wales."

Despite their best efforts, the team lost out on their prize pot of £10,000 as they were caught by the Chaser in the final chase with twelve seconds remaining on the clock. Kenny had attempted to answer five questions, but got all five wrong.

But ITV viewers took to Twitter following the show, as they blasted Kenny's performance and advice to his teammate Josh in opting for the lower offer too.

One person wrote: "Kenny is no longer allowed to enter Scotland. #thechase," Another added: "They didn't need a full house, they just didn't need Kenny #Thechase," as someone else fumed: "Stop pressing the f****’ buzzer Kenny. #thechase."

"Kenny has all the right answers for all the wrong questions… what a numpty. #TheChase," added another ITV viewer, whilst a fourth quipped: "The Biggest Loser All the way from Scotland for £1000 , What a guy #TheChase," as they laughed.

It comes after Monday night's show which saw Ailsa from Fife give a stellar performance when she surprised viewers and opted for the higher offer, bagging £44,000. However everyone was left gutted when she missed out during the final chase.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on STV.
