The Chase contestant leaves Anne Hegerty in awe after nail-biting one on one

Anne Hegerty was full of praise for a contestant on The Chase after a nail-biting one on one.

Denise, Edwin, Christine and Sean joined forces today to take on The Governess.

Up first was Denise, an online retailer hoping to renovate her house.

Denise had a good start, earning an impressive £7000 in her cash builder.

She was encouraged by her teammates to take the higher offer of £37,000.

But unsure of what form Anne was on, Denise opted to play safe and stick with her £7000.

Denise made it through to the final easily, but her fellow contestants weren't so lucky.

Edwin matched Denise's £7000 in the cash builder but was eliminated by The Governess in the head to head.

Christine built up a decent £4000 in her opening round, but lost it against Anne.

And Sean won £4000 in the cash builder but failed to make it through to the final.

This meant Denise would have to face Anne by herself.

In the final round, Denise managed a decent 14 step lead.

Host Bradley Walsh commented: "Denise, there was some great answers in there. I'd be over the moon with that

"I think you played really well."

And Anne said: "You pulled out some very good answers there and a tricky set I thought, so I'll get a tricky set as well."

But it wasn't enough to stop The Governess from claiming victory with 20 seconds still left on the clock.

Anne said: "You were a very good player Denise, you did really well."
