The Chase contestant awkwardly forced into 'proposing' on air by Bradley Walsh

The Chase host Bradley Walsh encouraged a nervous-looking player on Wednesday's show to propose to his girlfriend live on air.

Oli, from Bexhill On Sea, said he would like to pop the question to his girlfriend Faye if he won enough money, but he did not seemingly intend to actually ask her yet.

But a cheeky Bradley asked Assistant Marketing Manager Oli, 26, if that was his proposal, before teasing him about its apparent lack of romance.

"My girlfriend and I like to sample lots of different cuisines, so we like going to restaurants, after payday," he quipped.

"If you win some money today what would you do with it?" Bradley asked.

Oli replied: "I would love to go over with my girlfriend to Australia and live there for a little while, we would like to dive the Great Barrier Reef."

Bradley asked: "What's your girlfriend's name?"

"Faye," Oli answered.

"Are you engaged? Bradley asked, as Oli looked awkward.

"Err, well, depends on how much money I win," he laughed.

Bradley pressed on: "Is that a proposal?"

"Err, potentially," said Oli.

Turning to the camera, Bradley said: "Faye, it's a yes from us, you've captured him."

One viewer tweeted: Congratulations, Oli! You won a free break-up! #TheChase

"He definitely didn't want to propose then! #TheChase " added another.

Later on in the show, Bradley collapsed into giggles over a rather rude answer option on the multiple choice while playing alongside player Stella and chaser Anne Hegerty.

The question was: "Which of these is a nebula located in the constellation Draco?"

The options were A) Chicken's foot, B) Cat's eye, or C) Camel's toe.

Bradley got the giggles at the third option, which Stella had actually chosen as her answer.

Pull yourself together, Bradley," Anne ordered as Bradley covered his face and snickered.

* The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
