The Chase branded ‘harsh’ over controversial question - and even Bradley Walsh was confused

Viewers have accused The Chase of being too ‘harsh’ on a contestant, after a controversial question saw him exit the game.

Heating engineer Alun, from Cardiff, managed to build a whopping £7,000 in the cash builder, but didn’t advance to the final chase after getting an answer wrong.

Alun was up against chaser Shaun Wallace, also known as ‘The Dark Destroyer’, who kicked Alun off the show after answering correctly.

The controversial question Alun faced was: “Which of these is the act of accidentally phoning someone when carrying a mobile phone in your back pocket?”

He was met with the answers of A) Butt dial B) Booty call and B) Bottom ring.

But none of these answers was the one Alun was looking for.

Host Bradley Walsh was also confused over the question (ITV)

He reluctantly chose ‘booty call’, saying: “I normally call it a pocket dial, but it wasn’t up there.”

Even host Bradley Walsh was unsure, saying: “Never called it that, butt dial. Never heard of it.”

Viewers quickly took to Twitter after Alun’s defeat, with one saying: “Butt dial?? That’s harsh.”

Another added: “Since when was it called a butt dial?”

But other viewers argued that Alun should have known the difference between a ‘butt dial’ and a ‘booty call’.

One said: “How did he not know it’s butt dial?!”

Another tweeted: “Imagine not knowing the difference between a butt dial and a booty call.”
