The Chase viewers hail 'impressive' Fife teen for 'bossing' ITV gameshow

The Chase returned to our television screens on Tuesday afternoon and one of the contestants was hailed for her "impressive" performance, despite still being a teenager. Civil engineering student Victoria, from Fife, delighted host Bradley Walsh, who said he loved having young contestants appear on the ITV gameshow.

As things got going, the 19-year-old told viewers at home that she was a massive fan of maths and physics - and even admitted to being a bit of a "nerd". The teen brainbox told everyone that when she wasn't studying or going out she likes to play the trombone.

Bradley Walsh then asked: "Are you any good?" To which Victoria replied: "I used to play in a brass band and I'm hoping to join one at uni soon, but I have played in quite a few years actually."

Victoria later said that she hoped to going travelling across Europe with any cash she won on the show. It wasn't long after that her cashbuilder round got going, where she scooped a promising £5,000 for the team.

She was then faced with experienced quizzer Shaun Wallace, also known as The Dark Destroyer, in her bid to secure her place in the final chase and bring money back for the team. During her face-off with the telly brainbox, host Bradley read out question that was very close to home for Victoria.

She was asked how many rivets does the Forth Rail Bridge have. And the Fife teen, whose home region is linked to Queensferry, near Edinburgh, by the bid red crossing, was able to correctly answer 7,000,000 - and secure her place in the final chase.

Two other contestants also avoided being reeled in by the Chaser, with Pam and Nathan outfoxing Shaun and joining Victoria in the crucial third round. They managed to bank £19,000 and answered 16 questions correctly in the final chase. But Shaun was hot on his heels, and the quiz boffin caught Nathan with 17 seconds remaining.

Despite her leaving with empty handed, those watching at home were impressed by Victoria's knowledge at such a young age. One tweeted: "This girl is great for being so young #thechase"

Another added: "Impressive start for this young girl from fife #thechase" While a third penned: "#thechase 19 and bossing it"
