The alternative Championship table conclusion which could impact Leeds United if season is cancelled

Football in the UK remains on lockdown as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take hold of the sporting schedule – and wider society.

Following an update from the FA yesterday morning, we know that the 2019/2020 season will be played to a conclusion.

However, with matches currently suspended until April 30 at the earliest – plus the prospect of further delays due to the COVID-19 outbreak – there are plenty of on-field matters still to be decided.

In the event of a possible u-turn, we have put together an alternative final table for the Championship. It’s based on results of the first meetings between each club this season.

In this scenario, West Brom (+1) and Leeds United (-1) would still land promotion back to the Premier League – although the Yorkshire side would have to give up the title to their promotion rivals.

Further down the division, this alternative finale makes great reading for Sheffield Wednesday fans (+12), especially on the back of their mid-season stumble, but it’s not so promising for Stoke City (-7) or Wigan Athletic (-3).

Indeed, both clubs would be relegated if this is how the campaign eventually unfolds.

Below is a detailed look at the Championship table at the mid-way point of the 2019/2020 season.
