Tottenham went all the way to the final of the Champions League last season.
But that did not look on the cards during the group stages.
Spurs missed out on domestic football's ultimate prize as they were beaten 2-0 in the showpiece final by fellow English side Liverpool in Madrid, but it was a hell of a run in the competition.
It was a run that never looked likely and that many Tottenham supporters never expected.
Things got off to the worst possible start in the group stages, with Spurs letting slip a 1-0 lead away at Inter Milan in the San Siro to lose their first game 2-1.
And if that did not give them a mountain to climb, defeat to the mighty Barcelona at Wembley in the second group game and then a draw away at PSV Eindhoven left their hopes of qualification hanging by a thread.
But late drama in the return game with PSV, turning round a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1, coupled with Inter's draw with Barca, left Spurs three points behind the Italian side in the race to finish second.
A 1-0 win over Inter at Wembley put Spurs up into second place, but with a trip to the Camp Nou on the final group stage matchday looming.
There was more late drama as Lucas Moura secured a draw that was enough to see them through with Inter only drawing against PSV.
And data analysis website fivethirtyeight.com suggests Tottenham fans could be in for another rough ride in the group stages.
Tottenham have been drawn against Bayern Munich, Olympiakos and Red Star Belgrade in Group B, with their first game away in Greece on Wednesday night.
And after losing their first two group games last season, the data has predicted them to do exactly the same again this time around.
Fivethirtyeight rank Spurs' chances of beating Olympiakos in Greece at 37% on Wednesday night, with Olympiakos just having the edge with a 38% chance of winning.
And then, welcoming Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium two weeks later, it is the Germans who are predicted to claim al three points at 47% likelihood, with a Spurs win at 30%.
That is sure to set Spurs fans' nerves on edge, but worry not, as Spurs are then predicted to win the double-header against Red Star Belgrade, and then the home clash with Olympiakos to go through, albeit losing again to Bayern on the final gameweek.
