Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens knows a little bit about the issues currently ailing the team he is now the head executive of, and for good reason. He himself had a bird’s eye view of it when he was the head coach last season, with many of the same complaints about stagnant offenses and predictable sets being voiced by veteran point guard Marcus Smart after the Celtics epic collapse to the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
The folks at NBC Sports Boston tracked down Stevens as a result of those comments, and the Celtics executive was his usual measured self in the face of Smart’s potentially inflammatory comments.
First of all, I’ve walked that hallway to press conferences for the last eight years, and after a loss like that, how empty you feel and your stomach’s in knots and you just don’t feel good,” Stevens related, “so it’s a frustrating night.”
