The Celtic rotation puzzle facing Neil Lennon as he hints at Europa League hangover - watch our team

They won't be the last side to come unstuck at Livingston but that will offer little to comfort to Neil Lennon .

Hot on the heels of a superb Europa League victory over Cluj, Celtic were outfought and out-thought by a Livingston side who continue to defy the odds.

Ryan Christie's crunching tackle on goalscorer Scott Robinson and subsequent red card certainly didn't help the cause but it doesn't excuse a poor display from the Premiership champions.

A first loss of the domestic season, it allowed Rangers to claim top spot in the Premiership as they dismantled Hamilton 5-0 at Ibrox.

Lennon pointed to a potential Euro hangover in the aftermath, a comment which then raises questions over his decision to make only one change to the side which so convincingly defeated the Romanian champions.

Record Sport's Gavin Berry sat down with Jonny McFarlane to dissect a dismal day for the champions but a historic one for Livi - who claimed their first ever victory over the Glasgow giants.

Gavin believes the result should serve as a lesson to Lennon over the need to rotate his squad more effectively following the Thursday-Sunday European double headers.

"Maybe it's about knowing when to freshen it up," he said.

"Guys like Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Scott Brown - who was substituted - maybe that's when they should freshen it up.

"They've got the strongest squad in the country, so Lennon's got to know when to make those changes and still go to the likes of Livingston and get a victory.

"He needs to be able to make those changes and leave out some of these guys who have been over the course often.

"They've got the biggest squad in the country so it's important to give the guys who need a rest a bit of time to get a breather.

"They can then bring in others who can do a job and get a victory at places like Livingston."
