The Celtic lays it on a plate table as Greg Taylor rockets up rankings despite 'poor final ball'

The arrival of Diego Laxalt was initially seen as bad news for Celtic's Greg Taylor.

Handed the unenviable task of replacing Kieran Tierney, the left-back took considerable stick for his early season performances.

And when Laxalt galloped onto the scene in October, immediately winning favour with supporters, it appeared a regular seat on the bench beckoned for the Scotland international.

There's no doubt the on-loan AC Milan star started with a bang but he's been sidelined by Taylor for the past eight consecutive matches.

The perception around the Scot is his attacking output is sub-par and while he lacks the ferocious pace and power of Tierney, his return this season is hard to criticise.

Ryan Christie has registered the most assists of any Celtic player this season with 13, but Taylor sits second on seven.

Laxalt, by comparison, has managed only two from five fewer appearances.

Celtic assist table

Ryan Christie - 13

Greg Taylor - 7

Callum McGregor - 6

Mohamed Elyounoussi - 6

David Turnbull - 6

Jeremie Frimpong - 5

Albian Ajeti - 4

Tom Rogic - 4

Odsonne Edouard - 4

Hatem Abd Elhamed - 4
