The Celtic fan crackle that became a roar as Rangers slip up whisper sets away crowd wild

The old portable radios have been replaced by live apps but that unmistakable buzz remains the same.

In a callback to a bygone era when both sides of the Glasgow divide playing at the same time was not a rarity, the reaction from Celtic 's travelling support upon receiving the news of a Hearts equaliser at Ibrox was undeniable.

Some may say that such a reaction is premature given the infancy of the league campaign, but when it comes to this season, it seems all bets are off.

Normally the back and forth of points gained and points lost are spread across a few hours or sometimes even a day due to the manic TV scheduling of Scottish football.

Yet today's scenes were a live wire of exactly how crucial both Celtic and Rangers results are at this crucial stage of the season.

Ange Postecoglou' s men secured a 2-0 victory against the Steelmen, thanks goals from Jota and an unstoppable strike from former Well player David Turnbull.

At Ibrox. Craig Halkett headed into an empty net in the last minute to cancel out John Lundstram's opener as the two sides shared the spoils.

Only time will tell if the Celtic fans' celebrations were in vain ahead of more important league clashes in the coming weeks.

When asked by the reaction from the away fans, Postecoglou told BBC Sportsound: "They've been fantastic towards me from the start and I'm pleased we can send them home happy like we did at Pittodrie.

"We disappointed them at Livingston and we don't want to be that kind of team.

"They've been right behind us from the start and they understand the difficult position we've been in and what we're trying to build."

The away end eruption was not missed by those watching the action as pundit Leanne Chrichton said: "I can see the response from the Celtic fans, what it meant to them.

"You know when there's been a result on the other side of the city and you could feel that buzz within the stadium."
