Black Swan has teamed up with the National Theatre of China to present their first international collaboration. Based on the Chinese fable The Circle of Chalk. the Caucasian Chalk Circle is a meld of Chinese and Indigenous Australian cultures, with songs sung in Noongar.

The play opens with a village debate about land ownership, before shifting to reveal a story about justice. It follows Grusha, a peasant girl, who rescues the Governor’s infant son and flees across a war-torn country in search of safety. This production is directed by Dr Wang Xioaying.
