The Carlos Pena contract clause that Rangers flop hopes will revive flagging career

Rangers flop Carlos Pena has insisted on an indiscipline clause in his contract with Correcaminos UAT to keep him on the straight and narrow as he looks to revive his career.

It was announced last night that the Mexican midfielder had joined a second tier side in his homeland, after failing to make an appearance for GKS Tychy.

The former internationalist hasn't played in 16 months due to a salary dispute, and his time with Rangers was characterised by issues off the field.

Pena said: "I'm very happy and highly motivated with this challenge.

"It's back in my hands again and it's up to me to do well. There are no excuses.

"I want to do this for me, my family and the people who have stuck by me and believed in me.

"There's been a lot going on for the past six months, but now I am able to fully concentrate on my football again."

Pena has been without a club since he walked out on Polish second division outfit GKS Tychy, because of a dispute over his wages.

Despite signing for them in March, he failed to kick a ball for them after an initial work permit problem and his last game was in October last year for Necaxa, on loan from Rangers.

Pena's contract at Ibrox was terminated by mutual consent after two disastrous loan spells in Mexico blighted by alcohol problems.

The midfielder was brought in for £2.2m by Pedro Caixinha but managed just 14 appearances and five goals.
