The Cardiff City v Hull City player ratings as sub makes impact but midfielder jeered off

Alex Smithies 6

Had very little to do, all told. Did well enough with his feet and didn't have to make a save, really.

Perry Ng 6

Looking better with each passing game at the minute. You can see the confidence coming back to him. Better impact further up the pitch but still room to improve.

Mark McGuinness 5

Looks the calmest of the lot with the ball at his feet and did a tidy job, all things considered, defensively. Couple of scary moments, though.

Aden Flint 5

Tried to force things as the game went on and sent a few poor passes out. But defensively did OK.

Curtis Nelson 4

Struggled in possession. Always a beat off the pace in that regard. His distribution got worse as the game went on, too. A bit of a struggle.

Ryan Giles 7

Grew in confidence after the introduction of Ralls. A constant attacking threat and put in a number of dangerous crosses.

Marlon Pack 5

Struggled with the lack of options ahead of him and was guilty of some sideways passing at times. Inaccuracies crept in as the game went on.

Will Vaulks 4

A bit of a comedown after his excellent display at Preston. Passed back too often and just wasn't on the same wavelength with his forward balls. Hooked at half-time.

Leandro Bacuna 4

Gave the ball away that led to the corner for Lewis-Potter's goal and was probably the man who should have been picking him up. A double error. Missed a glaring opportunity to equalise, too. Was jeered off.

Kieffer Moore 5

Not up to the standard we have come to expect from him. Largely fed off scraps but couldn't really get into the game.

Isaak Davies 6

Made some really exciting runs early on, one saw him take on three or four players and ghost into the box before getting a shot away.

Subs

Joe Ralls (on for Vaulks 45) 7 (star man) - Made it a different game when he came on. Produced some good moments, threaded nice balls through and had a decent attempt saved.

James Collins (on for Davies 63) 5 - Missed a glorious chance to equalise in the dying seconds, hitting the post from yards out.

Rubin Colwill (on for Bacuna 63) 6 - Tried his utmost to turn things around and produced a couple of bright moments.

Mark Harris (on for McGuinness 85) NA.
