The Cardiff City player ratings as widemen steal the show in Middlesbrough win but Neil Warnock favourite fails to shine

Here are the Cardiff City player ratings after the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Alex Smithies 7

As we have become accustomed to, did not put a foot wrong. Solid as ever.

Lee Peltier 6

Another who stuck to his task well, his relationship with Whyte is one of Cardiff's strongest assets.

Sean Morrison 7

Was tested by Britt Assombalonga but managed to keep the tricky attacker quiet all afternoon.

Aden Flint 6

Boro's pacey attackers caused him problems on occasion, but there was no match for him, as you'd expect, in the air.

Joe Bennett 7

Looked a lot more like his usual self this week. A big contribution in attack and far more solid going back.

Leandro Bacuna 7

He will have his detractors, but it was another performance which ensured Marlon Pack's absence isn't being felt too badly.

Joe Ralls 7

Solid, steady and kept things ticking over in the middle of the park. A typical Joe Ralls display.

Callum Paterson 5

Just doesn't quite look himself recently. Struggled to really make an impact on the game.

Gavin Whyte 8 (star man)

Arguably his best outing in a Cardiff City shirt. Looks more confident with the ball at his feet with each passing game.

Josh Murphy 8

His best performance this season. Gave the defenders a fright and was a huge blow when he was forced off at half time. Was missed greatly after the break.

Omar Bogle 6

This was his opportunity in the absence of Robert Glatzel, but it was a frustrating one. Good movement but not the rub of the green. Hit the bar with a header.

SUBS

Junior Hoilett (on for Murphy 45') 6

Swung a couple of beautiful balls into the box and created a couple of good chances in the second half. A solid outing.

Danny Ward (on for Bogle 66') 6

Was great to see him back on the field, but had little to work with as the game became disjointed.
