The Cardiff City player ratings as Liverpool loanees and goalkeeper extraordinaire impress

Alex Smithies 8

Made a particularly excellent save from Jefferson Lerma in the first half. Made an absolutely world-class save to deny Solanke his second.

Leandro Bacuna 6

We all know he is a makeshift right back but he did a tidy job once again. His dynamism gets him out of a lot of trouble.

Sean Morrison 5

Will have been disappointed with his part in the first goal. Too lax. Very unlike him of late. Solanke got the better of him on a number of occasions.

Curtis Nelson 6

Caused a hairy moment with a woefully under-hit pass to Smithies in the first half. Missed a good chance in the second half with a header from a corner. Otherwise solid.

Joel Bagan 7

A Championship debut for the 19-year-old and did the basics well. Passed the ball nicely and got forward when he could. An assured first outing.

Marlon Pack 6

Has been a standout so far this season and he did alright in truth, but the game just passed him by a little. Expect him to be back stronger next time out.

Will Vaulks 7

The loudest voice on the pitch, geeing up his team-mates when they needed it. Let a couple of decent chances fly and made a couple of crucial defensive interventions late on.

Sheyi Ojo 7

Embarked on a number of exciting, mazy runs on the right wing and kick-started many attacks.. Linked up nicely with Wilson. That final ball just needs to be crisper.

Harry Wilson 8 (star man)

Was central to anything good in City's attack. Popped up in crucial areas, slid nice balls in behind and pulled the trigger when he could. Scored a lovely goal to get Cardiff back on terms.

Junior Hoilett 6

Started a little sluggishly but as the game opened up he actually started to produce those trademark runs and crosses. A little more like it.

Robert Glatzel 7

Actually started the game very well with some nice interplay with the wingers and Wilson. Just faded as the game wore on but did well overall.

Subs

Joe Ralls (on for Pack 69) 5, Kieffer Moore (on for Glatzel 72) 5, Murphy (on for Ojo 79) 5.
