The Cardiff City player ratings as forgotten man puts in stellar display on his return against Huddersfield

The Cardiff City player ratings after they beat Huddersfield Town 2-1 at Cardiff City Stadium.

Alex Smithies 6.5

Arguably his best performance yet this season. Steady game, better handling and made a decent save from Jonathan Hogg's low effort in the first half.

Lee Peltier 7

Warnock will be thankful he is back in the side, added a calm head and much-needed stability in defence.

Sean Morrison 6

Turned a few times by Huddersfield's quick attacking line. Other than that a relatively solid performance all round from the captain.

Aden Flint 6

Steady again, his lack of pace still a worry against a forward line as quick as that, but no glaring errors despite the Terriers employing a quick brand of football.

Joe Bennett 6.5

A tremendous outlet going forward all night, sometimes caught out in defence, however, and better attacks will take advantage.

Joe Ralls 7.5

The heartbeat of this team and scorer of the first goal. Linked incredibly well with Tomlin and often popped up in the box to give an option.

Leandro Bacuna 6.5

A far cry from his performance on the weekend against Reading, his passing and positioning much improved this time out.

Lee Tomlin 7.5 (Star man)

Looked sharp, played in the wingers, as well as Glatzel, and fired off dangerous shots of his own. Given the circumstances, an extremely impressive return.

Josh Murphy 7

Had a stinging shot saved early by the Terriers' keeper and was a great attacking outlet, injecting pace into the attack.

Gavin Whyte 7

Worked tirelessly out on the wing and was a huge asset in defence as well as attack. Easy to see why Warnock likes him, his best outing so far.

Robert Glatzel 6

Skied a glorious opportunity over the bar early on. Looks very bright but just can't find the back of the net at the moment. It will come.

Subs :

Bogle 6 (on for Glatzel 76)

Rattled the crossbar with a venomous free-kick after coming on as a late substitute.

Hoilett 7 (on for Tomlin 76)

Popped up in the box late on and was clinical to slot the ball home for the winner.
