The Cardiff City evening transfer update as Neil Harris makes loan admission and star says he was 'ashamed' of Swansea City loss

Neil Harris has hinted that young Cardiff City duo Cameron Coxe and Mark Harris could follow in Ciaron Brown's footsteps and go out on loan this month.

Brown this week sealed a short-term loan deal with Livingston, where he had a stint last season, and Harris believes it will benefit not only the player but the squad.

Brown has been placed in the same bracket as Coxe as two of the best up-and-coming talents at the club, with the latter getting an opportunity to showcase his talents in last week's FA Cup clash with Carlisle.

Young striker Harris, meanwhile, returned this month from his loan spell at Wrexham and has been training with the senior squad.

The manager, however, believes they both might benefit from being sent out on loan to play regular senior football elsewhere for the remainder of the season.

"Mark Harris has just come back to us, another one who needs game time with men’s football," the manager said.

"Cameron Coxe played the other day and showed a really good account of himself, but also where he could improve.

"Those sort of age of players, who are not going to play regularly for us, need to go out and play, because it’s the only way they really improve. Sparky and Cam would be two we would really like to go out and play week in, week out.

"But they’ve also got attributes that help us everyday.

"We will have to see what unfolds with those two."

The City boss also went on to say how highly he thinks of centre-back Brown and he hopes he will have a part to play at the club next season.

"I'm really pleased for Brown to go," Harris said.

"It’s great for him and I’ve seen enough potential to think he can come back and play a part for us next season.

"I’m really looking forward to coming back and training with us pre-season.

"If he goes out and plays 10, 15, 18 men’s games in the Scottish Premiership would be great for him and for us in the long term. That will probably be the ideal scenario for players of his age."

With attention firmly on the South Wales derby, the Bluebirds are tasked with trying to stop Swansea earning an historic double on Sunday.

Neither of the two sides have ever won two games in a league season, but Steve Cooper's men have an opportunity to do just that this weekend, after their 1-0 victory over the Welsh capital club back in October.

Winger Junior Hoilett didn't play in that game owing to an injury, however he painted quite the picture of how low the players felt after the defeat.

"It was horrible," The Canadian said of the defeat.

"Bad. Everyone was down and ashamed. Everyone came in the next day to work hard to rectify it."

Hoilett said the squad is not fearing anything, however, in fact quite the opposite. Following the 6-1 hammering at the hands of QPR, he believes it's the perfect opportunity to put the record straight and give the fans something to shout about.

"I dont think it's anything to be scared of," Hoilett added.

"It’s a great opportunity to rectify things and a great match to be involved in.

"Everyone knows what to look forward to and the rest will follow."

Elsewhere, Harris gave his verdict on City's mooted pursuit of Victor Camarasa after the Bluebirds were linked with a move for the player this month.

It is understood that the Spaniard, who endeared himself to Bluebirds supporters during his loan stint in the Welsh capital last season, is angling for a move away from Selhurst Park this month.

Harris, however, revealed that the club have not made any enquiries to bring Camarasa back.

"No, not at the moment," he said when asked if contact had been made.

"He’s a player that’s known here quite well. He had some good times here as well, a quality player.

"At the moment, though, there's no legs in that at all."
