The Cardiff City evening transfer headlines as ex-Bluebirds and Sheffield Wednesday striker has Blackpool offer and goalkeeper set for loan

Former Cardiff City striker Gary Madine has an offer from League One side Blackpool.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon says the ex-Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United frontman has a deal in front of him after initially being linked with Sunderland.

Nixon tweeted: "Blackpool. Boat pushed out for Madine. Good deal on offer. Serious bid to go up."

Madine was released from his Bluebirds contract last week and he left Cardiff City Stadium by mutual consent.

Manager Neil Harris said at the time: "I think if the club thought there was value in selling him, they would have like to have sold.

"They got to a stage where it was best for the club and Gary to part ways.

"I enjoyed working with him and he did well for me. Sometimes, time is everything and family as well.

"Gary is a North East lad and sometimes family has to come first.

"If the club could have recouped some of the money they paid they would have liked to have done, but circumstances dictated what happened.

"My support goes to Gary and it’s probably the right decision all round."

Madine failed to find the back of the net in 29 appearances for the Bluebirds.

Meanwhile, Harris provided a transfer update following the FA Cup win over Carlisle on Wednesday evening.

He hinted that goalkeeper Joe Day could leave the club on loan this month, despite speculation over Neil Etheridge's future in South Wales.

: "If we end up with Neil and Alex, two really good goalkeepers, then there may be an opportunity for Joe Day to go and play some football that he craves.

"We will have to see. We will just have to take one day at a time.

"What I know is we've got three very good goalkeepers."

West Ham, who were tracking Etheridge, have now signed Middlesbrough's Darren Randolph, reducing the likelihood of the Hammers going for the Bluebirds stopper in this window.
