The Cameron Carter-Vickers Celtic transfer condition that's altered negotiations

Celtic will need to spend money if they want to land Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham.

The American has been linked with a switch to the Scottish Premiership with the Parkhead club keen to take him on loan.

But the 23-year-old wants to leave North London permanently, which has put paid to any hopes of a temporary switch, reports the Daily Record.

And landing Royal Antwerp right back Aurelio Buta may be more difficult that first thought.

The Hoops were reportedly on the verge of getting their man last week with a £3million fee understood to have been agreed between the clubs.

But there is reportedly strong interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, which could throw a spanner in the works.

Ange Postcolgou said at the weekend that he was confident of landing “two or three” new additions this week.

Talks are ongoing regarding Carter-Vickers but there’s competition for his signature too. Newcastle United, Norwich City and Bournemouth are all thought to be interested.

Carter-Vickers spent the second half of last season on loan at the Cherrries.

Belgian outfits Anderlecht and Club Brugge have also been linked, although Spurs’ £million price tag could be an issue for a number of potential suitors.

The defender has made just four top flight appearances for Tottneham but has had loan spells at Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Swansea, Strike City and Luton Town over the last four years.

A source close to the player said: “Cameron needs a fresh start to kick start his career. A loan move is not something he’d be keen on.”
