A new cafe has opened and it's got arguably the best view in Bristol

Bristol boasts a number of locations which offer stunning views, and one of the very best is the Clifton Observatory.

The iconic landmark allows visitors to see both the Clifton Suspension Bridge in all its glory, with a beautiful backdrop of the sprawling city in the distance.

Last summer the Camera Obscura launched a café on its roof which allowed visitors to enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake as they admired the stunning vista.

Sadly it was only open during the summer months, meaning people who visited in inclement weather couldn't experience it.

But following months of renovation work, the terrace recently reopened and will now be open all-year round seven days a week.

A new glass café has been built onto the side of the building which means visitors are guaranteed a bite to eat and a drink as they savour the view, come rain or shine.

Observatory owner Ian Johnson said: "The rooftop 360 café was very popular last summer and we wanted to find a way to keep it going all year round in varying weather conditions.

"So we are delighted to now have it open, operating in conjunction with the new glass café on the side of the observatory.

"Lots of people visit to see the observatory, to go for a walk around the area or to have a look at Clifton Suspension Bridge, so having a place to stop by and grab a coffee or snack is a huge bonus.

"Response has been great so far and the design has been very well received. We're looking forward to staying open late and admiring the sunsets during the Balloon Fiesta weekend.

"We're also looking forward to welcoming many more visitors over the coming months."

Another exciting new addition to the observatory is Wallambard, who was put in place last week after being purchased from the Gromit Unleashed 2 Auction in 2018.

Clifton Observatory's new 360 café serves up a range of locally-sourced refreshments including cake and drinks.

It will be open to the public seven days a week, except when hosting private events.
