The Butterfly Club by Jacqueline Wilson is a heartwarming story about Tina, one of a set of triplets, who was born smaller than her sisters and with a small heart.
In this story, Tina is dealing with a lot: Her scary teacher Miss Lovejoy and big scary bully Selma. One day, Miss Lovejoy asks Tina and Selma to make a butterfly garden together that no-one else is allowed to contribute to. But with her heart condition will she be able to take part? The story follows on with the butterfly garden and explores how bullies might not be as bad as they make out to be. It looks at the relationship between the two girls and how spending time together can change a persons perception of you.

This book could give people courage on how to deal with bullies as the book is written from Tina’s point of view. Throughout the book there are illustrations that help to tell the story. The bottom of the book are butterflies and if you flip through the pages of the book they fly across the page. If you like Jacqueline Wilson, this won’t disappoint. At the end of the book there are puzzles, facts about butterflies and a recipe for butterfly cakes. There is also a quiz on the book. I think the book is a great read because the characters are fun and their looks and actions may or may not match their personality. Sometimes it is fun to find out. Are people really what they seem?
Overall, I think that the book is good because it is based on events that could happen in real life. This makes it believable.
