The burning Celtic question Neil Lennon asked misfiring stars in dressing room after Europa League exit

Neil Lennon insists he is 'scratching his head' with Celtic's dreadful form as they were knocked out of the Europa League.

The Parkhead side suffered a 4-1 defeat to Sparta Prague as pressure mounts on the Premiership champions.

It's been a horror European campaign especially when you consider the success they achieved 12 months ago as they topped their group ahead of the likes of Lazio.

So what's gone wrong for Celtic in such a short space of time? Lennon is puzzled and directed that exact question to his players in the dressing room at full-time to get their input.

He said: "That's what I'm scratching my head with and the question I am asking in the dressing room. Why we have gone the other way?

"I don't know if it is a lack of confidence individually, or as a team. I think they're just lacking confidence and that happens with the way the results are going. The second half performance was really positive.

"Odsonne (Edouard) had a great chance to equalise and he was great tonight. Defensively at the minute we are unnerved and we need to remedy that as soon as possible. It's a good question and a fair question and one we are asking ourselves.

"I was asking why we are conceding the goals and if it's because we are lacking in confidence at the minute.

"It was a conversation we threw out to the players to get their opinions and we are hoping having spoken about it they can galvanise themselves from that as well."
