The BT Sport documentary 'Ours' - what it's about and how to watch it

A new, eye-opening football documentary from BT Sport Films airs this week.

Written and directed by journalist Michael Calvin, Ours examines the future of fans in football following a year without them.

With stadiums around the country empty for the best part of a year, the importance of fans has been brought to the fore.

Many sides in the lower tiers of football league have struggled to sustain themselves financially, while others have likened watching behind-closed-doors as being somewhat on the outside looking in.

How to watch Ours on UK TV

BT Sport subscribers can watch Ours this Tuesday, February 2, at 10.30pm. It will also be repeated this week on Thursday, February 4, at 4.30pm.

Ours examines a variety of ownership models, containing contributions from fans, players and owners on the following:

  • Bury AFC : the most recent example of how fans rebuilt a club from the ground up.
  • AFC Wimbledon : the quintessential fan-run model and of what can be achieved by a group of determined fans.
  • Portsmouth : run into the ground by a series of questionable owners, the fans stepped in and saved the club from the brink of extinction.
  • AFC Rushden and Diamonds : how does a phoenix club deal with the constraints of the current pandemic?
  • Ebbsfleet : how can a club survive when it is the victim of an ill-fated experiment with fan ownership?
  • Lewes FC : a look at how community-run football can serve as a force for social change and unite a local community.
  • Hashtag United and The Sidemen : what does the next generation of football fan look like?
