The Bristol neighbourhoods that have helped the city get into Tier 2

Bristol will be moving to Tier 2 this weekend as coronavirus cases in the area have significantly improved in recent weeks.

The Government said yesterday (Thursday, December 17) strict coronavirus rules in Bristol and North Somerset will be relaxed on Saturday (December 19) after the areas have been subjected to the top Tier 3 restrictions since December 2.

While coronavirus cases have been dropping across the city in recent weeks, some areas in particular have seen very significant falls.

We decided to look at the latest data (which covers the seven days up to December 11) and compare it with what was recorded two weeks earlier on November 27.

Here are some of the areas that have seen the biggest drops in cases in the past two weeks, listed in ascending order:

The Bristol areas that have seen the biggest drop in infection rates

Where is the data coming from?

You can see the latest national data on the government's website.

The map displays weekly data, which are updated everyday.

The data can be viewed by local authority but also by smaller sections called 'Middle Super Output Areas'.

The map highlights which areas of the nation have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinates the areas by how many cases they have.
