The Bristol City U23 team news which could indicate looming exit for two players

Bristol City U23s face Watford U23s at City's Failand training ground today.

With the first team now out of action until Saturday, following the Shrewsbury draw on the weekend, it was thought that some of the first team members who have been lacking minutes in the Championship could make an appearance.

Lee Johnson has given his players a break until Wednesday after the busy festive period, but it seems as if a couple of City's forwards are close to an exit after the team news for the U23s game was announced.

Hakeeb Adelakun (Ryan Hiscott/JMP)

Both Antoine Semenyo and Hakeeb Adelakun have featured for the U23s this season and have both been linked with a loan move away from Ashton Gate.

Semenyo has made just six appearances for City so far this season, most of those cameos from the bench, and is yet to score.

Adelakun hasn't made a single appearance this season and hasn't impressed since his move from Scunthorpe last season.

And both were missing from the team sheet this afternoon, highlighting that both could be in line for imminent moves.

Bristol Live understands that several clubs are interested in both players, and Lee Johnson himself has already admitted that he has received several offers for Semenyo.

And the omission from the U23s side could mean that deals for both are close.

Semenyo has attracted interest from several League One clubs, and Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson has said that his side want the City youngster.

However, we understand that Doncaster Rovers are leading the chase.

After Adelakun helped Scunthorpe to the play offs during his time with the League One side, several third tier sides have also been linked with a move for the forward.

Sunderland and Doncaster are both reportedly interested in Adelakun too, along with Rotherham and Burton Albion.

Sammie Szmodics is also thought to be moving on loan, with Hull City and Ipswich Town both interested in a move for the former Colchester forward, however with Szmodics currently nursing an injury it was always unlikely that he would feature.
