The Bristol baker Harry Champ who now has his SIXTH great-great-grandchild

A retired South Bristol baker has just turned 101 - and is one of few people in the city with a daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter and great-great-granddaughter.

Harry Champ celebrated his 101st birthday last week, and remarkably five generations of the same family are lucky enough to live within about a mile of each other in Harry's corner of South Bristol.

He was born in Reading in 1919, served in World War II as a baker - and has the medals to prove it - and came to Bristol to work in the baking trade - something he did all his working life.

Now living in Brislington, he has an ever-growing family all over the city - with a new arrival born this autumn.

Harper Sutherland was born on September 3 and is Harry's sixth great-great grandchild - pictured below when she was just about a month old.

Among his many children, grand-children, great-grandchilren and great-great grandchildren all over Bristol, daughter Jacqueline, 74, lives in nearby Stockwood, granddaughter Tina lives around the corner in Hengrove, as does Tina's daughter Harleigh, 23, and her daughter Harper.

"It's a huge family, really," said Harleigh. "All of us are in Bristol, and to be this close to him - it's really nice."
