The brilliant way Nottingham Forest have shown their support for the community

Nottingham Forest continue to make a difference in the community while the football season is suspended.

The Reds are determined to play their part amid the coronavirus crisis, having already offered their support in numerous ways.

And they have now donated 200 Easter eggs and Forest mugs to local food bank charity Hope Nottingham - at a time when such donations are very much needed.

It comes on the back of a donation of 1,000 carrier bags and 500 food containers to homeless charity Framework earlier this week, to help them distribute food and necessary items around various homeless hostels across the city.

Last month, before the current lockdown was in place, staff from the club and the Nottingham Forest Community Trust stepped in to help out with work on Hope’s community space, which had been put on hold due to the outbreak.

The group is a Christian charity which helps support those in need in the local area - and Forest had continued their partnership with Hope into this season, holding food bank collections at the City Ground.

With no games being played, the club have been in touch with a number of local authorities, including Rushcliffe Borough Council, supermarkets and the NHS, to see how they can help.

“Football has a huge role to play in people’s lives, and people look to football clubs because of that; because they are really important to them,” director Jonny Owen has said.

“These are extraordinary times. We can’t play football, but football clubs can still play an important role in the community.”
