The brilliant Cardiff City player ratings as several men send Neil Harris play-off statement against Leeds United

Alex Smithies 8

In an empty stadium, you can hear just how much of a leader he is. Faultless again between the sticks. Remarkable point-blank save to deny Phillips in the second half.

Dion Sanderson 7

One of his more shaky starts for the Bluebirds, but still offered a few real signs of positivity going forward and grew as the game went on.

Sean Morrison 7

A couple of clumsy errors with the ball at his feet, but when defending still solid as ever.

Curtis Nelson 8

Completely unassuming but was tremendous in the air all afternoon. So quick and reads the game so well. A real asset in defence.

Joe Bennett 7

Helder Costa was a tricky customer all afternoon and Bennett looked after him well. Still would love to see him contribute more going forward.

Will Vaulks 7

Was a menace as usual in the middle of the park; a terrier that did his utmost to stop Leeds' free-flowing passing. Made an acrobatic, goal-saving clearance, too.

Leandro Bacuna 7

His engine was terrific. Added a real dynamism which helped the Bluebirds at both ends of the pitch.

Joe Ralls 6

Just feeling his way back to full form. Inflicted a couple of poor challenges and gave the ball away a couple of times.

Albert Adomah 6

Couldn't quite get into the game as much as he would have liked but stuck to his task diligently as ever.

Junior Hoilett 8 (star man)

Looked really good all afternoon. Sauntered past defenders and was the most dangerous player for the hosts all afternoon. Lovely goal.

Callum Paterson 8

A thankless task for him against Leeds, having to hold the ball up and battle in the air all afternoon. Did a splendid job.

SUBS

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (Adomah 65) 7

Looked sharp and champing at the bit to get his chance. Was powerful and quick bursting forward with the ball late on.

Robert Glatzel (Paterson 65) 8

Wow. What a strike for City's second. Controlled it with the first touch and whacked it home from 20 yards with the second.

Marlon Pack (Ralls 75) 7

An assured cameo in the middle of the park to shore up the midfield late on.

Brad Smith (Hoilett 84) NA

Wasn't on long enough to make an impact, but a debut nonetheless.

Lee Tomlin (Vaulks 74) NA

Also not on long enough.
