The brands offering free wellness perks to our NHS staff on the frontline

Wheely good: Brompton's new initiative asks cyclists to share their unused bikes with NHS staff

That hour of R&R has never been more needed for NHS staff working in the battle against Covid-19. From post-shift yoga classes to hand balms to soothe sore skin, these are the apps, studios and wellness brands offering free support for frontline heroes.

Brompton’s new Wheels for Heroes initiative asks cyclists to share their unused bikes with NHS staff so they can avoid public transport. Electric bike retailer Fully Charged is providing eBikes to frontline heroes for free. Halfords is waiving its £30 bike service fee and will give a free safety check.

There are plenty of free home workouts available to NHS staff

HIIT unwind

Home workout app Fiit is now offering its Premium subscription for free for all NHS staff. Meanwhile, MoveGB and Starks Fitness are also offering complimentary workouts for frontline health workers, and London studio Frame is opening up its new online fitness platform to NHS staff, plus teachers, carers, police and the military.

Triyoga is offering free 60-minute yoga classes for NHS staff to unwind over Zoom every Friday and Sunday, while “Netflix of yoga” platform Movement for Modern Life has a free six-week subscription for healthcare workers and 70 per cent off for over-70s and the vulnerable.

Mind matters

NHS staff are now being given mental health support to cope with tackling Covid-19, and many apps are helping. Therapy booking platform Glyde is offering healthcare heroes free video call sessions with psychotherapists while meditation app Headspace has made its Plus subscription free for the NHS. Sleep-help programme Sleepio and anxiety-reduction app Daylight are offering free access to NHS staff.

Other post-shift perks offered to NHS staff include 40 per cent off Corkcicle’s sustainable water bottles, 30 per cent off Laundryheap’s 24-hour door-to-door laundry service, and free Dr PawPaw balms to soothe cracked hands and lips after long shifts in gloves and masks.
