A Newcastle pub is urging customers to use contactless payments wherever possible to try and minimise the risk of coronavirus spreading.
The number of confirmed cases of CO-VID19 in the UK has climbed rapidly every day over the past week, with the number of deaths almost doubling to 21 on Saturday.
And, while scenes from the Bigg Market on Saturday night , suggests many people in Newcastle aren't yet letting coronavirus spoil their fun, the Gosforth pub is taking precautionary action by way of how it wants to take payments.
Taking to Facebook to inform customers of the coronavirus-prompted measures, The Brandling posted: "Due to the ongoing global health issue surrounding the COVID-19, we would like to reassure our guests that we are taking the correct measures to help reduce the spread of the virus.
"For the health and safety of all our staff and guests, we will be requesting all guests to please use contactless payments where possible whilst in our pub.
"We will continue to maintain our stringent hygiene practices and would appreciate if guests could assist where possible. As we move forward, we will be closely following all directions from the UK government and will update you to any changes in the near future."
Pubs, bars and restaurants in Italy are in complete lockdown, while over in Benidorm, holidaymakers who managed to get to the popular resort this weekend, arrived to find out all of it's bars and restaurants would be closed until at least the end of the month.
