The Bradley Lowery Foundation reveals new 'Run for Brad' fun run

A new family fun run will take place next year to raise funds for The Bradley Lowery Foundation.

The foundation has announced a new event that has room for 2,000 entrants who can choose between 1 mile, 5km or 10km course.

Fitness enthusiasts and amateur joggers alike, are invited to enter one of three runs at Herrington Country Park, Houghton le Spring, on March 29.

The fun run will raise money for the charity that was founded following the death of six-year-old Bradley on July 7, 2017.

On the run, Gemma Lowery, founder of the Bradley Lowery Foundation , and Bradley’s mum, said: “We’re really excited to be launching Run for Brad,  which will ensure the foundation is able to continue supporting poorly children across the UK, to get the care and support they need and deserve.

“Even if, like me, you’re not much of a runner, we’d love you to get involved. It doesn’t have to be a manic sprint but it is for a fantastic cause.”

After her son's death, Gemma, of Blackhall Colliery, County Durham , set up the foundation, which has raised thousands of pounds to help other sick children.

The charity has raised more than £3million for dozens of poorly children; established a dedicated support line for the families of children with cancer ; donated £100Ks to researching childhood cancers; campaigned for new drugs to be introduced in the UK and plans to build a holiday home for sick children and their families in Scarborough.

Bradley's touched the heart of the nation as he bravely battled neuroblastoma.

The entry fee is £25 per runner, runners are encouraged to raise funds but it is not essential.
