The Boys season 5 premiere leaves fans "literally breathless" and questioning "what the f*** just happened"

The Boys season 5 has finally started on Prime Video, and, as you'd expect from the most irreverent superhero satire around, the premiere of this final outing has kicked off with a bang.

The following will contain spoilers for The Boys season 5, episode 1, so turn back now if you're not up to date.

Two episodes have dropped on Prime Video, and the pedal is fully to the metal as that Flight 37 video finally gets broadcast to the public, a Freedom Camp rescue attempt is mounted, and, most shockingly of all… A-Train dies.

"What a goddamn amazing episode. Literally breathless, those last 15 mins were so great. And never thought A-Train would be redeemed but the way he dodges crashing through the girl and spitting facts straight to Homelander Season 5 has started with a bang," says one fan on Reddit.

"What the FUCK just happened I love this show," questioned someone else, while another says: "Fucking insane A-Train sendoff. For those who were let down by the 4th season, just know that the show is so back."

"A-Train's death flag has been up for so damn long since his redemption arc started that the ending wasn't too much of a shock but DAMN was it still rough seeing it finally happen. Also, it was even more of a gut punch watching his death ultimately come as a result of him losing his footing while trying to dodge the woman in the street; it's a good way to show the growth he went through during his storyline while tying it back to the inciting incident at the start of the show involving him and Hughie," points out another person.

"We are so back. Sad to see A-Train go down so early but it was a perfect send off. He died by choosing not to repeat the thing that set this whole series in motion. What an episode," reflects someone else.

"Homelander bellowing "WILLIAMMMM!" while holding Hughie at eyelaser-point while Butcher charges in, murder-vines first had me all fired up. What an episode," says another fan.

This is only the start of The Boys, as the remaining six episodes will drop weekly until the highly anticipated finale on May 20. Check out our The Boys season 5 release schedule for more.
