Abby loves her best friend Tara, and all her friends in the Boys' School Girls group, but ten girls against hundreds of boys isn't always easy… So half-term is a relief, especially when Abby meets wild-girl Gerry – someone who makes her feel special, important.
The girls quickly bond, and go searching for adventure during their week together. Abby is enjoying this crazy short-term friendship… Until she realises that Gerry is taking it much more seriously than her. Soon, she is even threatening to destroy Abby's closest friendship and to find a way into her life which means Abby can never get her out again…
This book surprised me. It wouldn't usually be my kind of choice, and it was a little bit difficult to get into at first, but by the third chapter this story had me completely captivated and on the edge of my seat.
It is written in a style that's easy to read, but at the same time there are time-lapses every couple of chapters which makes it more challenging, in a good way.
This story is absolutely packed with twists, and excellent ones too! Every twist is neat, leads to a new a part of the story, and I never saw any of them coming; every time I gave a sigh of relief and thought that nothing else could possibly happen, it did.
I did find a couple of negative points, though. For example, Abby's reaction to Gerry not having any kind of social media; the twelve-year-old girl made it sound like not being on Facebook or Instagram was absolutely shocking. The main character also kept saying how she used to be fat, and sort of blamed her lack of popularity in school on it; she made being "fat" sound a bit like something dark and extremely serious.
Apart from that, I thoroughly enjoyed this exciting and fast-paced book, and if you're looking for something entertaining to read, this certainly won't disappoint.
