The Bournemouth players set to miss Arsenal clash as Ryan Fraser closes in on return

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe could have Ryan Fraser back to face Arsenal this weekend.

The Cherries' winger, who was linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, has made eight appearances for Bournemouth this season, but missed last weekend's game against West Ham through illness.

However, he has been included in the Scotland squad for the upcoming internationals and could now feature against the Gunners on Sunday.

And it is understood that he could be involved against the Gunners this weekend, despite Howe not mentioning the Scottish winger at his pre-match press conference.

Howe is still set to be without five players for the game though, with David Brooks, Charlie Daniels, Dan Gosling, Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas all sidelined through injury.

Smith is currently out with a hamstring injury, while Gosling is recovering from hip surgery, but both players are understood to be getting closer to returning, and could be back after the international break.

Howe said: “They are not quite ready for this game but they’re getting close. There’s a whole group of players getting closer.

“They’re not there yet but we’re hoping for them to be ready for after the international break, but we’ll see. Other than that I think we’re okay.”

Brooks is also expected to be out until later in the month, but there are currently no return dates for Stanislas and Daniels, who are both out with knee injuries.

Meanwhile, Howe said that Bournemouth are feeling confident ahead of the game, with the Cherries currently sitting in eighth place in the table, with 11 points from seven games ahead of the game against Arsenal.

But Bournemouth do not have a good record against Arsenal in north London, with the Cherries losing on all four visits to the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.

"We've trained well and the boys are believing in themselves and how we work," he said.

"We have to be very level however, I say it but I really feel there is more to come.

"We haven't started well at Emirates Stadium in recent years so we need to start better. They're dangerous and we'll have to be at our best."
