The Botanist reopens in Newcastle this Friday - with hanging kebabs back on the menu

Cocktails and kebabs are back on the menu at city centre favourite The Botanist which will be reopening its doors just in time for the weekend.

The Newcastle bar-restaurant, boasting open upper-level views over the Monument, has announced that it will be ready to welcome back guests from this Friday, July 10 and returning customers will find plenty to whet their appetite.

The Botanist is renowned for its cocktails while a real eye-catcher on its menu for diners has proved to be its speciality hanging kebabs and both treats will be helping to draw the customers once again.

The hanging kebab - an upmarket version featuring meat or sometimes fish suspended on a skewer - has become its trademark and has even inspired a turkey dinner version for Christmas; a haggis theme one around Burns Night and even a sweet take for Pancake Day.

On offer will be various kinds, all served with chips. Diners can choose chicken, with or without chorizo; salt and pepper pork; lamb kofta or crispy halloumi.

The Botanist has been opening its branches in phases since July 4 and it's Newcastle's turn on Friday.

It is advising advance bookings - although they're not essential - and they can be made for tables of up to six people who will be allocated a time slot. Bookings can be made just for drinks too.

The bar is introducing a cash-only payment system; mobile contactless ordering, optional single-use menus and hand sanitiser stations.

Tables will be socially distanced and there will be extra cleaning and staff hand-washing procedures in place.
