The Borna Barisic domino effect as Rangers star's Roma transfer tale takes a twist

Roma are said to be preparing to sell left-back Leonardo Spinazzola to Inter, in a move which could have implications for their interest in Borna Barisic.

The Rangers left-back is a target for the Serie A giants, who want an alternative to 34-year-old Aleksandar Kolarov.

And Roma could be ready to step up their interest as Sky Italia's transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports they're ready to send left-back Leonardo Spinazzola to Inter.

The Giallorossi want to include the Italian international in a swap deal for Matteo Politano, who is being lined-up as a replacement for the injured Nicolo Zaniolo.

The attacking midfielder has made just two Serie A starts under Antonio Conte so far this season.

Today Barisic's agent has commented on the situation, telling Roma Press : "There still isn’t anything concrete, but let’s see."

Gers boss Steven Gerrard has already confirmed that the Serie A giants are interested.

He said: “That’s true. There has been interest in Borna and there has been for a long time, even when his form wasn’t in a place where it is right now.

“Everyone respects the fact you’re talking about the Croatian number one left back and they’re a team that has massive respect around the world.

“I’m close enough to his agent and we’ve had dialogue over the last couple of weeks. We realise where he is with his contract and I would say there are low level talks in terms of trying to get him to extend here because we are pleased with the job he’s done so far."
