The Book of Matthew (McConaughey)

Well, thank GOD. Just when we were thinking we were stuck with Nicole Kidman's kid and making Sunday Rose / Sunday Roast jokes (and Allison "the devil" Pearson has already gone there so that's not even an option), along comes another celebrity with an even more pretentious name for their new baby! Yay!

But it's not really the name that bothers, more the reasoning behind it.

So Matthew McConaughey seems to have sprogged. Seriously, like, whatevs. Anyway, he's named the kid Levi Alves McConaughey which seems relatively boring in the world of celebrity progeny monikers. It comes from the Bible, apparently, like I'd know, and according to Matthew, in a touching interview he's given to OK!, It was inspired by his favourite verse in the Bible (from the book of Matthew, which I'd be willing to bet is the only book in the Bible Matthew McConaughey has read.)

The verse goes a little something like this: "If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light." Um, okaaaaaaayyyy. That's his favourite verse? That's what his kid is named after? Uh, not to be an ignorant Jew but am I alone in TOTALLY not understanding what the meaning of that may be? Fundamentalists, feel free to write in.
