Tottenham are reportedly among the clubs eyeing a move for Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window.
TalkSport has named Spurs, West Ham and Sheffield United as the three clubs keen on a move for the England international.
Jose Mourinho has a history with Lingard, having managed the player during his spell in charge at Old Trafford, and the pair made an impact upon each other.
Previous comments from the Spurs boss indicate that Lingard was a welcome member of the squad and made a significant impression with his behaviour behind the scenes.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2018, Mourinho said: "He is a naughty but funny guy. He is the funny one that doesn’t disturb the class. He is the funny one that the teacher isn’t upset with.
“He is the one that makes things work and in the right moment he is positive and he makes everyone in the class laugh and creates a good atmosphere and that is the atmosphere that we always want in our class, because I was also a school teacher and I know what it means.
“We like the funny person that doesn’t disturb and makes everyone happier. We don’t like the naughty ones who disturb everyone as they learn.”
The relationship between the pair goes both ways, as Lingard was the first to take to social media to comment after Mourinho's sacking at Old Trafford.
While Paul Pogba was the first to post, that was hastily deleted and, instead, it was Lingard who moved to thank the Portuguese boss for his guidance.
A reunion at Spurs could, therefore, appeal to both parties, with it clear there is a significant bond between the pair.
